Perhaps he was from Austria…or Germany?
This is a very old CdV it is probably from the 1860’s.

Robert Steidl was a photograhper in Bruck an der Leitha (Bruck a d L) (bridge over Leitha), in eastern Austria (between Vienna and Bratislava). The street Altstadt (old town) is still there.

    Makes one wonder what the connection might have been between that family in Austria and someone in Minnesota. I always wish I could find out the back story!
